Fareportal’s CheapOair Integrates NextTrip Booking Engine, Creating Access to Millions of Instantly Confirmed Vacation Rentals

SUNRISE, FL – April 12, 2022 – Fareportal, the travel technology company behind leading online travel agencies CheapOair and OneTravel and NextPlay Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NXTP), a technology solutions company building a digital business ecosystem for digital advertisers, consumers, video gamers and travelers,  are pleased to announce the integration of the NextTrip ConNextions booking engine into CheapOair, a leading online travel agency that specializes in providing cheap flights and great last-minute flight deals for travelers worldwide.

CheapOair can now offer its users the ability to easily search, book, and instantly confirm reservations from a few million alternative lodging rental (ALR) properties around the world. The unique instant confirmation of vacation rentals enables simultaneous booking of air, car, and event packages—no waiting until the rental property owner confirms hours or even days later.

“The ability to instantly confirm vacation rentals is a real step forward in convenience for CheapOair customers,”

stated Glenn Cusano, Co-CEO and CFO at Fareportal. “Our work with NextTrip enables a more comprehensive travel booking solution, from flights and car rentals to hotels and ALR properties, all booked at the same time. The hundreds of travel agents and millions of travel customers on our platform now have more choices to create the perfect travel package and create extraordinary travel experiences.”

The integration is expected to benefit from the resurgence in the travel and tourism market, which is projected to grow at a 17% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) to $950 billion by 2026.

A recent online survey of global travelers revealed the pandemic has shifted leisure trip preferences to self-catering accommodations and smaller destinations to escape the crowds and engage more with the outdoors. ALR properties allow consumers to minimize their contact with others, thereby increasing the necessity of more travel options like instantly bookable vacation rentals.

Tim Sikora, NextTrip President and COO, commented, “Our ConNextions booking engine integration with CheapOair dramatically expands our North America reach by allowing their travel agents and customers to dynamically package Vacation Rentals with flights to global destinations on over 600 airlines and hundreds of car rental companies. We see our global inventory of vacation rental properties providing many new lodging options to CheapOair customers around the world. We look forward to expanding this relationship with others in Fareportal’s huge network of brands, agencies and customers.”

Spring Travel – CheapOair Shares Most Popular Destinations for 2022

Traveling solo?  Planning a romantic getaway?  Looking for some family fun?  Whatever type of travel you have in mind, get inspired by viewing  CheapOair’s newest list of top ten destinations for travel in April and May, 2022.

According to leading online travel agency CheapOair, operated by New York-based travel technology innovator Fareportal, bookings to these destinations are the most in-demand this Spring.  The brand also identifies some differences in the popularity of destinations when comparing the results for solo travelers, couples, and families.

From the top ten lists, the first five destinations are the same for the three traveler types addressed. However, rankings vary by each group. For solo travelers, New York City is the most booked destination for springtime travel. Couples are opting for Las Vegas as their preferred locale, and not surprisingly, families are twice as likely to be visiting Orlando than the number two city in the family top ten.

Families are also more likely to be venturing to other countries. Cancun, Mexico City, and Guadalajara all make an appearance on CheapOair’s list of most-booked destinations by family travelers.

Results by Traveler Type, Ranked in Descending Order:

Solo Travelers –

New York, Los Angeles, Orlando, Las Vegas, Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Washington DC, Atlanta Dallas

Couples

Las Vegas, New York Orlando, Los Angeles, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Denver, San Juan PR, Dallas

Families

Orlando, New York City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, San Juan PR, Cancun, Mexico City, Chicago, Guadalajara

“Getting away this spring is top of mind for travelers of all types,” comments Glenn Cusano, Fareportal CFO and Co-CEO. “We expect to see increasing consumer interest in travel to the extremely popular destinations that made our spring top ten lists, and locations worldwide, as public confidence in the safety of travel continues to grow. And to make it easier to decide to travel, consumers can visit CheapOair to view current covid-related safety policies by destination.”

The rebound for travel continues at a strong pace. According to the TSA’s latest numbers, passengers going through travel checkpoints at US airports in March of 2022 has now reached 87% of 2019 traveler counts.

Fareportal Expands Portfolio with Stake in Search Tech Company Search Machines

The family of companies that includes Fareportal, the travel technology innovator behind leading online travel agencies CheapOair and OneTravel, has further strengthened its presence in digital technology, through an investment in UK-based Search Machines.

Search Machines is a global search technology company that applies state of the art data science and technology to search engine user acquisition and pricing.  Since its inception in 2019, Search Machines has successfully deployed their proprietary ATLAS platform and helped many large enterprises to optimize and customize their search user acquisition.  Search Machines’ propriety technology uses natural language processing (NLP) with AI tech to understand the intent of users and match demand and supply.  This gives each user the best experience leading to increased conversion rates and decreased cost of acquisitions.  Using ATLAS, advertisers can optimize their user acquisition for return on investment, maximizing the impact of every dollar spent in travel, insurance, retail, and other verticals.

Sam. S. Jain, Fareportal Founder and Executive Chairman commented, “Fareportal has collaborated for many years with Search Machines founders Richard Jackson and Shlomi Beer.  In that time, we have observed the rigorous attention to detail and innovative technology that makes ATLAS an essential tool for search optimization, applicable to every industry, but particularly in the travel industry. Fareportal is a leader in travel technology, so this investment in Search Machines as part of Fareportal’s family of companies is a logical decision.”

Richard Jackson, Founder & CEO at Search Machines said, “This is a watershed moment for Search Machines as it goes into a faster growth mode. This new investment enables Search Machines to level the playing field in the age of post-COVID by enabling large retailers, online insurers, online travel agents, and other online digital organizations with the best technology to improve their metrics on customer user acquisition in search channels, which is critical to win in today’s challenging market.”

“We are on a mission to equip enterprises with the technology platform they need to orchestrate successfully their user acquisition process and maximize the use of internal data, providing management and marketing teams with the visibility and control they need,” commented Shlomi Beer, Search Machines Founder and CTO.

The decision to invest in Search Machines is supported by an expanding global marketplace.  Worldwide investment in digital advertising has now reached 51% of overall advertising spending, and experts forecast continued growth.

“In an increasingly competitive environment, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) performance must optimize using personalization from intent, through the entire consumer journey.  With ATLAS, Search Machines is well placed to provide this much needed experience,” stated Glenn Cusano, Fareportal Co-CEO and CFO.

New CheapOair.ca survey finds that a majority of Canadians are not aware of the Ontario ‘Staycation’ Tax Credit, with over 55 per cent of respondents reporting that they are likely to travel within Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO, February 2, 2022

Leading online travel agency CheapOair.ca today released the results of a new survey geared at Ontario travellers in an effort to better understand the perception towards the recently unveiled Ontario ‘Staycation’ Tax Credit, while also gauging 2022 travel perception and concerns as restrictions are slowly lifted.

The CheapOair.ca Travel Perceptions study found that over 66 per cent of respondents were not aware of the Ontario Staycation tax credit. Unsurprisingly, interest in travelling is increasing, and more than 55 per cent of respondents stated they were highly likely (30.4 per cent) and likely (25 per cent) to travel to claim the tax credit.

The Ontario Government recently unveiled the Ontario ‘Staycation’ Tax Credit, which allows Ontario residents to claim up to 20 per cent of eligible leisure accommodation expenses for stays that occur between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2022, when filing their personal 2022 Income Tax. Individuals can claim up to $1,000 and families can claim up to $2,000 of eligible expenses to get back returns of up to $200 and $400 respectively.

The survey also revealed that the biggest concerns related to travel for Ontarians continue to be ‘exposure to COVID-19’ and the variants (34.8 per cent) followed by ‘flights being cancelled’ and ‘being unable to return from the destination’ (tied at 17.3 per cent) as the next concerns. Additional results worth noting:

  • Adventure Above All Else: As it relates to type of travel, half of all Ontario respondents (50 per cent) expressed interest in going on an outdoor/adventure trip while over a third (34 per cent) are interested in exploring Family Theme Parks, indicating that Ontarians are looking to get out and explore the great outdoors more as opposed to staying home and not travelling.
  • Canadians Are Road Warriors: A majority of Ontario respondents (61 per cent) prioritize travel via personal/owned vehicles ahead of air (35 per cent), rental vehicles (12 per cent), or rail (8 per cent).
  • Consumer Confidence: Roughly one-quarter of consumers (24.2 per cent) say their travel confidence has been unchanged over the past three months, with 22 per cent of respondents claiming that their confidence in travelling has decreased and 20 per cent saying their confidence has increased.

“What this survey showed us was that Ontarians were not aware of the available travel savings, in light of the fact that they are eager to plan travel. With the rising cost of living and services, our goal is to help Canadians save as much as they can on travel,” said Daniel Hayter, Senior Product Manager for CheapOair.ca. “As a leading online travel agency and resource, we will continue to help share ways for Canadians to save on their future travel, accommodation and transportation bookings.”

For the survey methodology, CheapOair.ca conducted this study for a 12-day period from January 15 to January 26, 2022, with results determined automatically through a third-party tracking system. The survey was representative of Ontario consumers that visited the CheapOair.ca website, regardless of whether a booking was made or not.

With unique travel trend insights gleaned from CheapOair.ca’s dedicated travel consumer base, their mission is to educate and aid consumers and travel professionals in both planning their travel accommodations and staying current on the most popular destinations.

Note to media: Additional survey results and interviews can be arranged upon request.

Fareportal and Air Carrier aha! Join Forces to Serve US Regional Air Travelers

Fareportal, the travel technology company behind leading online travel agencies CheapOair and OneTravel, has announced the addition of aha! to the over 600 air carriers already available via the company’s online websites. The brands were the first of the major OTAs to be selected as a preferred partner and reach an agreement with the new airline. aha! went live on CheapOair and OneTravel in late November of this year.

aha! is a leisure airline brand of ExpressJet Airlines, and provides service to smaller communities with convenient, short, nonstop flights to in-demand destinations such as Reno-Lake Tahoe.

Werner Kunz-Cho, CEO of Fareportal, shares his thoughts, “Air service to smaller communities has reduced over the last decade, and yet consumer demand for regional travel options continues. Our company’s focus on innovative technology to enhance the travel experience led aha! to CheapOair and OneTravel. We are extremely pleased to partner with aha! to provide this needed service to the traveling public.”

Subodh Karnik, Chairman and CEO of ExpressJet states, “Fareportal is a travel technology innovator, and we appreciate CheapOair & OneTravel’s ability to provide travelers with easy-to-book, customized air travel solutions. We are pleased to partner with Fareportal to market aha!’s reasonably priced, nonstop flights between Reno-Tahoe and cities in the western United States.”

Domestic air travel in the United States has been strong in the last half of 2021, and experts expect US travel volume to continue to increase in 2022. To service this demand, aha! has an aggressive route expansion strategy planned for the year.
